As a dyslexia consultant, my goal is to determine whether your child fits the dyslexia profile. This process is not intended for use in determining the eligibility of school-based intervention.
My Full Dyslexia Screening will tell me, with a high degree of accuracy, whether your child has the classic weaknesses of dyslexia as determined by the research-based definition of dyslexia.
The consultation begins with a phone interview to review the Signs & Symptoms found on www.brightsolutions.us.
Following this interview, I will determine if we can move to the next stage which includes full records review of:
•school records
•prior testing reports
•current schoolwork samples
This will be followed by a one-on-one meeting either in person or online to go over findings and my conclusion.
At this point, I will determine if we can move on to the assessment portion of the full evaluation. This includes 10 different screening tests used to help determine whether your child fits the profile.
These screenings include, but not limited to:
•phonemic awareness
•phonics knowledge
•reading of sight words and nonsense words
•graded word list and grade level passage reading
I will write a full report based on the results of the testing.
We will meet once more in person or online to discuss the report.
You may share this report with whom you wish, but be advised most public schools will not accept this report for IEP or 504 status.
I am NOT diagnosing but simply determining whether or not your child fits and dyslexia profile.
For a report that may be used at schools, you can request a list of testers from Susan Barton. She has list of qualified psychologist who can do a diagnosis. Visit this page for more information: www.brightsolutions.us
My fee for consulting, conducting assessments and writing the report is $550.
