Beginning in 1998, I started working in education as a first-grade teacher. Even then, my goal was to someday become a reading specialist. Once I started having my own children, I decided to homeschool and work part-time. Within a short time, I realized that my son was struggling to learn to read, write and spell. I tried everything I was taught in school and couldn’t teach him. Boy, I felt inadequate. When he was in 5th grade, I found out why he struggled so much. He was diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADD. Since then, it has been my personal mission to help children like my son. I strive to teach children where they are and help them succeed in the things they struggle.
